Frank Moloney and his crew of Dennis Grilk and Daniel Grilk, father and son aboard their skiff 'Express Boat Covers'won the Dumaresq Cup at Drummoyne during the 2nd heat of last years State titles.  There were over 40 skiffs competing with winds from the east moderate to fresh.   This is one of the oldest trophies in the skiffs and is quite an achievement to win as it is on a Handicap basis and keenly contested.

In Memorium

Jack Curtis, long time DSC member and 16ft skiff sailor and supporter passed away a short time ago and it is only fitting that he be remembered. Jack joined Drummoyne Sailing Club in December 1958 and had been sailing 16ft skiifs for many years. He was later a sponsor of the skiffs and to this day the Jack Curtis Trophy is still one of the coveted prizes at DSC.

Rest in Peace Jack.

16ft Skiffs National Championships

Drummoyne 16ft Skiff Season 2006/2007.

Congratulations to the crew of Deloitte Touche Tomatsu, Bruce Moore, Andrew Sheldrick and Tim Valtwies on winning this seasons Club Championship.
The Club Championship was sailed over the best of seven heats.
Bruce Moore won three heats with runner up Ross Bell Electrical (Ross Bell) winning the other two heats.
Muirhead Accounting (Matthew Fisher) and Bentons Real Estate (Brett Pollitt) winning a heat each.

The last heat was dramatic ... With Bruce Moore holding a slight points advantage over Ross Bell. Sailed in a moderate to fresh Southerly, all skiffs used their number one rigs. Deloittes, Ross Bell and Bentons all contested a close first lap when suddenly Deloittes struck gear trouble with a jammed tack line. Ross Bell unusually suffered the same problem allowing Bentons to take out the race by the large margin of 9 minutes. However Deloittes were able to return to shore, repair the damage and rejoin the race to finish in second place and therefore win the Club Championship. Ross Bell Electrical had to retire leaving them in overall second place and Bentons Real Estate third.

The Club Pointscore was keenly contested this past season.
Bentons Real Estate and Ross Bell Electrical contested the early season points with Matthew Fisher in Muirhead Accounting making a determined bid just before the Christmas break but some bad luck put them out of the running in early January.
Port Jackson Marine (Andrew Wernick), Express Boat Covers (Frank Maloney) and Mountain Industries (Grant Sampson) showed improved form with performances mid season that enabled them to make a charge at the points, however Bentons Real Estate was proving tough to budge form the top of the table even allowing for their scratch position on the starting line. Bentons Real Estate clinched the Pointscore with one race remaining form Ross Bell Electrical and Deloittes Touche Tomatsu in third.

The knock out final was between Ross Bell Electrical (5 min) and Bentons Real Estate (scratch).
In a light and tricky NW breeze, Bentons cahrged through the fleet to overtake Ross Bell to win the Knockout.
Congratulations to the crew of Bentons Real Estate - Brett Pollitt, Charles Fisher and Craig Jelfs for their consistent performances winning the Fastest Times Trophy.
